Description

Improved vexel in wallpaper format: [link]

Someone said, apparently because I haven't done a vexel in years, I shouldn't get so annoyed by things to do with vexels.

I joined deviantArt as a vexel artist.
The majority of my gallery is vexel art... proper vexel art.
I got 2 DDs for my vexel art.
I've created many tutorials on vexel art - thanks for reminding me =Mirabel

Just because someone hasn't done work in that genre in 3 years, does not make their opinion on the genre less than yours.

So to shut em up and more or less prove to myself I can still do it... here is a vexel.

Created in Paintshop Pro 7.04
Except for the background colour, 1 colour used as a radial gradient set at opacities between 5-15%
1 solid layer (background)
21 layers with gradients
Pentool used
ALL LAYERS ARE RASTER

Reference: Zach Quinto aka Sylar from Heroes aka the new Spock aka Sybrows by ~Sewwy

Title: from a Death from Above 1979 song called "Blood on our hands"

So now I've recently produced a vexel... is my opinion now less valid?

I love this. So many people would be tempted to portray him with darker colours and harsh contrast.
I'm floating in how smooth and light this is. I especially like, that even though there are no real blacks, that his eyes still pierce through it.

The only things I would bring to light are that on the right of his head (our right, his left), there is a triangle of shadow that catches my eye and draws attention to itself.

And also, along his jaw-line, there are two prominent layers that shade in his stubble. The darker of the two, to me, seems too dark, creating a flatter plane, than if there were three layers to create a bit more texture for his oh-so-sexy face.

I say this with all the respect for your work. I am in constant awe of what you do.
