Edit: The tutorial is now online in all it's glory via Noupe.com - SM's sister site.
I wrote a tutorial for Smashing Magazine a few months ago and it's yet to go online. However when it does, you guys will be the first to know as it's extremely indepth and shows you step by step how to create this vector portrait
the thing that caught my attention 1st..were the colors..the varying contrast between the green eyes and the make up...the varying opacity levels in the skin tones and shadows are phenomenal..next were the lips..you really seemed to have captured the textures, curves and detailing in them..very well done..and of course the fro..the texture in the hair..varying contrasting colors and outer fringes, i love how it all comes together...my only wish were if the skin tone was a bit darker, somehow the afro on such a pale model although unique, doesn't quite capture the the whole disco diva concept in "my eyes" as stereotypical as that sounds..but overall it's a SUPERB piece and as usual like all your other works..you really seem to inspire in myself to become a better vector artist, and i hope that others feel that sensation when viewing your work <3

One of the great things about this piece is the attention to detail. The way that you use stock is very clever in that I would have thought that this started as a sketch.
