I have been obsessed in this vector... I even ended up going into work on Friday like a zombie after 2 hours sleep due to vectoring my ass off.
Anyway, moving on...
I recently posted a blog asking for requests from my devwatchers... in the hope I'd get some inspiration and give my watchers something they might like to see.
When I first saw this I thought it was a very fine graphite drawing. Now that I understand that it is vectors I am doubly impress. I made my living for a few years as an illustrator for a newspaper working primarily in Illustrator.
I find the expression to be strong and chilling. The composition is forceful and strong.
You gradations appear very smooth which are even more impressive because you limited yourself to grayscale.
I am also impressed with the implied texture of the hair.
I feel your use of space speaks well of your understanding of the psychology of the image.
The craftsmanship you have brought to this image is exquisite.
Oh my, I was not expecting this for a while in my inbox. What a tremendous impact to see the final image in so polished a presentation!
Needless to say, the rendering of everything, from the gradation of the skin to the structure of the hair, is impeccable. It is no small venture to sustain the visual appeal of a singular palette, therefore your craftsmanship and attention to the most minute of details is highly meritorious; effectuating the gravity within those eyes is especially notable.
Greatest of all your endeavours is the employment of vertical space, centralising the weight and consequently escalating the significance of the piece as a whole. The result is remarkably dramatic, and the addition of the crossing shadows is simple yet elegant, giving this a further dramatic touch.
This is your most sophisticated piece to date. Looking at this I yearn for more, wondering what lies beyond the frame and how the story would unfold.
Congratulations on holding your viewer's attention for more than 10 seconds, by the way ;) this is a momentous stepping stone for you and I look forward to what next you have to offer.
When I first saw this piece I was taken aback it is beautiful and yet creepy but also so thought provoking and full of feeling. To say I was amazed is an understatement. It looks so simple but it's not. It placed a photo in my head which I tried to recreate. I don't feel I did your piece the justice I wanted to but I felt I should let you know how you inspired me. Thank you for sharing!
