Well I've been on my LiveStream today with people watching me vector... and I was vectoring this stock image, which I love... but then realised, I'm doing it again, I'm more or less just copying the stock image. It's my comfort zone I admit it.
So I got the basic lips and eyes and tried to vector most of them without the reference for further guidance. The stock was used for base layers, the complete skin and reference for the ivy brush I made. Anyway, I thought I'd start using some of the fab brushes I've made recently for myself and some of the ones I've already submitted to dA Inspired by Labyrinth - the ballroom scene. I know you probably can't see it, but in my head I see Sarah dancing with Jareth and if Sarah was a wood sprite or something, her head gear could have looked like this? I dunno. Anyway - stock used: Stock accounts: =TwiggXstock & ~chop-stock respectively. My brushes: ![]() Unreleased brushes used: Plait/braid brush, feather brush, ivy brush. 100% vector as per Comments
Absolutley awesome!
I love the colours of the hair, and I also love how you changed the stock, but it's still recognizeable as the beautiful =TwiggXstock The eliptical frame works wonderfully too! It was such a pleasure to see you vectoring live! (although my brother didn't let me watch too much -- Per aspera ad astra Use--> ~Artemisa-Stock Oh I also love the detail of the beauty spot!
-- Per aspera ad astra Use--> ~Artemisa-Stock I gotta watch the Labyrinth again! It's been too many years since I've seen it! I gotta use some of your awesome brushes on my next vector! There are so many different ways to used them!
-- My Portfolio i watched labyrinth a few weeks ago. its still an amazing movie. i think that this is a really fabulous piece. i dont think it looks exactly like the stock image, like the facial expression is a little more surprised than peering. sometimes doing a vector like this, working really closely to the reference is good if nothing for more than practice. i find doing more vectors where the picture is really close to the vector is sometimes more satisfying. you can see just how much you have developed, so much so that it looks like a photograph. that all being said, gotta say im loving your color palette! and her skin is almost luminous. like she is a fairy and shes glowing. if you ever saw ferngully, like those fairies there, they glowed blue or red though...right thats enough rambling off subject.
i really love how it looks like an old fashioned vignette at the same time though. the only thing i might ever considering changing is her expression. its a little awkward. in my opinion anyway. you know how amazing you are! maybe if you just added a kind of quirk to her lips, making her look like shes smirking at something or someone. right i think ive said enough. great job. as always you are such a huge inspiration! i hope someday my own vectors will be as good at this! -- "hope" is the thing with feathers -- that perches in the soul--and sings the tune without words-- and never stops -- at all." ~emily dickenson Hi Shar,
