Back to my roots: A call to vector artistsIt's been quite some time since I've really done anything vector related… We'll that's not true. I've been working with Vectors in my web designs and various other projects, but on dA I've been really lapse in this area. I plan to rectify this during 2013 and would really love some help from the deviantART community. I started my stint with dA by being the Gallery Mod for the Vector gallery and it was an amazing time of my life. I met so many amazing artists and featuring them was so special to me.
To help me get back in to the swing of things `ChewedKandi has given me an amazing opportunity to write for Vectuts+. I've already got a tutorial hosted with them with a few more in the works. But, what I'd really like to do is rekindle that feeling of warmth you get from featuring talented artists, so I'll be hBack to my roots: A call to vector artists by $Ikue

Hot off the Press - Our Vector CV is in Print!In case you haven't heard already, `ChewedKandi - our dedicated and definitely awesome Vector Community Volunteer has been working hard with Adobe! The result? Her book has JUST been published!
But that's not all - the book involves 30 emerging artists within the Vector Community and most of them are from deviantART! The book explores their work, their inspirations and some tutorial projects that will help those looking to learn a bit more. Whether or not you're seriously into Vector doesn't actually matter, because this beautiful showcase of works has something for everybody.

Seniority Announcements - January 2013

This article marks the latest additions to the dizzy height of Senior members in our community. With just over 1000 deviants holding the highly saught after ` -- it's clearly a moment that deserves recognition.

So what does it take to become a Senior? That's a question many have asked and have never really been able to get a straight answer on. Some have gained Seniority as a thank you for their time spent as a Volunteer, or to recognise their contribution to a particular project or collaborative action. Some have gained Seniority because of their community spirit, providing help and assistance to many other deviants and taking time out to promote the work of others in the community.

PE Artist Interview: VAngelLJHello! How are you today? Could you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello! I'm good thank you. My name is Leo, I live in England and I've been a member of deviantART for around 8 years now (quietly).
So, when did you first discover Vexel Art?
I came to discover vexel art in 2007, and it was introduced to me by `AwsumZ. I like the media because it is versatile and I find it relaxing, which is why I've been doing it ever since.
And how would you describe your work?
I'd describe my work as semi-realistic, and I like to think I'm creative with it at the same time as keeping the realism - as in, I tend to follow stock references to a certain extent, but I love to add all my own ideas into it and 'mix it up'.

If someone were to ask you, “what is vexel art?”, what would you tell them?

So, the holiday season is upon us, and I am writing this from a computer that has been attacked by tinsel and other shiny things that keep distracting me!!

After the recent devastating news of the killings in Connecticut its a hard reminder that family and friends can be swept away from us in the blink of an eye, so cherish them and smother them in love every chance you get. The stock community has been ticking along quite nicely the last month or so which is lovely to see, we really dislike drama affecting the stock & resources galleries and try to head it off where we can! Stop The Violence"Stop the Violence" is a photography series done by Francois Robert in the 90's. Robert won three storage lockers at auction in the early nineties and in one he found a complete, fully articulated skeleton. Robert took the skeleton apart and began to arrange the bones into recognizable shapes, shapes that when paired with the material of human bones, create an amazing commentary on different aspects of today's world culture.

Over the past few months, we've been diligently working on cleaning up the category tree of old and unused categories. While most of this will go unnoticed by the community, what you will notice is the change from "Miscellaneous" galleries to "Other". The reason for this change is simple. The concept of Miscellaneous leads one to believe that it's a junk drawer category for everything under the sun when the intention was to be an "Other" category for deviations that don't fit well in other sub-categories of the tree. In memory of the young LGBT people who lost their lives to suicide, Brittany encouraged her friends to wear purple on a day in October -- a day that came to be known as Spirit Day. Since then, GLAAD has helped turn Spirit Day into a global event that inspires millions of individuals, celebrities, TV personalities, media outlets, companies and schools to wear purple in a stand against bullying.
While Spirit Day does focus on the LGBT community, I believe that it's anti-bullying message is relevant to every community. It only get's better, if we take the pledge to make it so.
Practice compassion and understanding, and treat others how you would like to be treated and we can make a difference.

In this article, I will be helping you out.  I will use my experience working at a library to show you an effective way to find exactly what you want.  Much of it is common sense, but perhaps you'll find something you didn't think about before.
To illustrate my points, I will be using deviations in the Photography > Photojournalism category of deviantART.
THE SEARCH BAR

Photography Troubleshooting: Money MattersAs a photographer money is one of the most trickiest things to deal with. Competing in the local market not only for services but also in finding the cheapest but best quality way of providing albums and prints is a challenge. The difficult thing is knowing where to start with making a bit of money from your photography. Believing in yourself, whilst the corniest thing to say, is the trickiest for many. But you can do it. Making money, getting clients and building your photography is never going to be possible if you don't first believe in the service that you offer and the capabilities that you have.
Approach a magazine
In most countries there are popular photography magazines that nearly always have a 'submit your work' to us page. Some people think this is egotistical and vain, but honestly it's not.
