I'm not really that picky about the little stuff. While the live effects aren't technically vector they are still scalable and editable like vector. That in itself is good enough for me. Personally I try to avoid it when I can. I originally started with raster and slowly integrated vector. Now I've completely changed to vector. The main reason I made the switch was because I like the idea of being able to show my artwork at any size and not worry about it getting grainy. For me to use a raster effect feels contrary to my policy. That's not to say I wont use them, they're mainly a last resort if I can't do it effectively in vector.
